Holding floss is the key. You should have a decent length and make sure it is tightly wrapped around and locked onto the middle finger of each hand. You should floss using a gentle sawing motion, against the sides of your teeth.
The type of floss you use is really a matter of personal preference, although a tape style of floss is usually easier to slide in to teeth with tight contacts.
When brushing your teeth position your toothbrush at a 45-degree angle to your teeth, aiming the bristles of your brush toward the gum line. It is important to place about a third of the bristles on the gum to minimise force directed to the gum line, which can lead to recession of the gums.
Once you have the brush at the correct angle, all you need to do is jiggle the brush gently back and forward, only brushing one or two teeth at a time.
Be systematic, watch yourself in the mirror and most importantly, ALWAYS use a soft-bristled toothbrush!
